12 Wellingtons from 429 and 432 squadrons were ordered on a mining operation to Lorient and St.Nazaire. The crews were over the gardens at between 500 and 4,000 feet, sowing 20@1500 lb mines.

Sgt. W. Tighe from 429 squadron returned with the mines as they could not find the pinpoint.
Sgt. D. Smith was hit by flak from a ship, was not serious.

F/Sgt. J. Esdale from 432 squadron returned early as the navigation aids were u/s.
4 crews landed away due to poor weather.
