    16 Halifaxes from 424, 427, 429 and 433 squadrons were ordered on a mining operation to Oslo. The crews were over the garden at between 3,000 and 5,000 feet, sowing 64@1500 lb mines.

    F/O W. Britton and crew from 427 Squadron flying Halifax III NR-257 coded ZL-Y were attacked by a JU-88. Many strikes were seen on the wings and fuselage and it crashed into the sea, was claimed destroyed.
