Five Halifaxes from 408 Squadron, and 6 Wellingtons from 426 Squadron, were ordered to attack Lorient  The crews were over the target at between 12,000 to 17,000 feet dropping 26,000 lbs of high explosives and 29,000 lbs of incendiaries.  According to reports, the bombing was accurate and serious damage was done. 

Five crews from 408 Squadron departed base at between 22:09 and 22:19, they were over the target at between 01:09 and 01:25, returning to base at between 04:32 and 04:47.

Sgt K. Greig and crew, flying Halifax II  DT-682 coded EQ-F,  returned early at 02:31 due to the rear turret being u/s.

Nine crews from 426 Squadron departed base at between 22:18 and 22:45, they were over the target at between 01:18 and 01:56, returning at between 03:16 and 04:20. 

F/Lt F. Parker and crew flying Wellington III  X-3696 coded OW-J  returned early as the rear turret was u/s. They landed safely at Moreton-in-the-Marsh

W/Cdr S. Blanchard and crew flying Wellington III  Z-1599 coded OW-M  were attacked by a JU-88,there was no damages and they landed safely at Stanton Harcourt.

W/O2 P. Maries and crew flying Wellington III  Z-1680 coded OW-R landed at Moreton-in-the-Marsh on return.

S/Ldr C. Dowie and crew flying Wellington III  BK-505 coded OW-F  landed at Moreton-in-the-Marsh on return.

Sgt G. Baker and crew flying Wellington III  X-3699 coded OW-Q  landed at Moreton-in-the-marsh on return.

Sgt G. McMenemy and crew flying Wellington III  BK-542 coded OW-L  landed safely and Moreton-in-the-Marsh on return.

Sgt H. Rands and crew flying Wellington III  X-3420 coded OW-H had the navigator, P/O C. Chapman RAF sick on return. They landed safely at Moreton in the Marsh.

F/O G. Milne RCAF and crew, flying Wellington III  BK-165 coded OW-F, failed to return from this operation.

425 squadron sent 6 Wellingtons on a mining operation. The crews were over the garden at 800 feet sowing 12@1500 lb mines.

Six crews from 425 Squadron departed base at between 16:28 and 16:34, returning at between 21:40 and 22:51.
All crews landed safely at Harwell on return.
