January 23/24, 1943

    Fifteen Halifaxes from 408 and 419 Squadrons were ordered to attack  the port of Lorient. The crews were over the target between 14,000 and 17,000 feet releasing 42,000 lbs of high explosives and 48,500 lbs of incendiaries. According to reports, the weather was good and serious damage was caused.

    Five crews from 408 Squadron departed base at between 17:14 and 17:20, they were over the target at between 20:04 and 20:15, returning to base at between 23:18 and 23:44.

    Sgt K. Greig  RAAF and crew flying Halifax II  DT-678 coded EQ-C  had both starboard engines fail on return.

    They crash-landed at Ossington with no injuries to the crew. 

    Ten crews from 419 Squadron departed base at between 17:05 and 17:16, they were over the target at between 20:03 and 20:15, returning to base at between 23:15 and 00:02.
