January 30, 1943

    Eleven Wellingtons from 424, 425, 426, and 427 Squadrons were ordered on an attack at Oldenburg in daylight. The crews were only to penetrate German territory if there was cloud cover. Successful crews were over the target at between 13,000 and 15,000 feet, releasing 14,000 lbs of high explosives.

    Two crews from 424 Squadron departed base at 12:47 and returned to base at between 17:50 and 18:25.
    F/Lt W. Klassen and crew, flying Wellington III  BK-398 coded QB-W, returned early as there was no cloud cover.
    S/Ldr W. Allison and crew, flying Wellington III  Z-1691 coded QB-R,  returned early as there was no cloud cover.

    Four crews from 425 Squadron departed base at between 12:36 and 12:57, returning at 19:02.
    P/O R. Stutt and crew, flying Wellington III  BK-344 coded KW-B,  returned early to base at 17:46 as there was no cloud cover.
    Sgt J. Michaud and crew, flying Wellington III  X-3876 coded KW-D, returned early to base at 16:25 as there was no cloud cover.
    Sgt D. Turenne and crew, flying Wellington III  BJ-652 coded KW-E,  returned early to base at 17:15 as there was no cloud cover.
    P/O S. Murrell and crew, flying Wellington III  X-3872 coded KW-A,  were attacked by 2 ME-109s for 15 minutes. A cannon shell set the Wellington on fire, this was put out by the crew. One ME-109 was hit and smoking. This was claimed damaged.

    3 crews from 426 Squadron departed base at between 12:44 and 12:54.
    S/Ldr L. Crooks and crew flying Wellington III  X-3699 coded OW-Q  returned early from 54:00N-04:00E at 15:41 as there was no cloud cover. 
    F/Lt F. Parker and crew flying Wellington III  BK-505 coded OW-F  returned early from 54:08N-04:00E at 15:58 as there was no cloud cover.
    F/Lt R. Lowe, RCAF and crew, flying Wellington III  Z-1689 coded OW-R, failed to return from this operation.

    Two crews from 427 Squadron departed base at between 13:45 and 13:48.
    S/Ldr W.  McKay and crew, flying Wellington III  X-3752 coded ZL-P,  returned early at 18:37 as there was no cloud cover.
    P/O C. Bennett, RCAF and crew, flying Wellington III  BK-389 coded ZL-L,  failed to return from this operation.
