    27 Lancasters from 408 and 419 squadrons were joined by 61 Halifaxes from 420, 425, 426, and 432 squadron on an attack at Caen in support of the ground troops. The crews were over the target at between 7,000 and 9,000 feet. Releasing 1,008,000 lbs of high explosives. According to reports, the weather was clear and bombing was accurate.

    F/O H. Jones from 408 squadron landed at Worksop on return due to faulty fuel gauges.

    F/Lt. G. Peck from 419 squadron was attacked by an enemy aircraft, there was no claim or damage.
    F/O B. Walker was attacked by a JU-88, there was no claim or damage
    F/Lt. H. Smith was attacked by a JU-88, there was no claim or damage.
    F/Lt. W. Cameron was attacked by a DO-217 and an ME-210, there was no claim or damage.

    F/O J. Dargis from 425 squadron returned early was they were unable to raise the under carriage.
    F/O N. Streight was hit by flak, not serious.
    P/O W. MacNeil was hit by flak, there were holes in the escape hatch and forward fuselage.

    P/O N. Becker from 426 squadron was hit by flak, not serious.
