22 Halifaxes from 405, 408, and 419 Squadrons were ordered
on an attack
at Berlin. The crews were over the target at between 16,000 and 20,000
feet, releasing 14,000 lbs of high explosives and 21,000 lbs of
incendiaries.
According to reports, the weather was poor, with severe icing. Bombing
was scattered over the target.

P/O R. Symes of 405 Squadron returned early, as the rear
turret was
u/s and severe icing.

All crews from 408 Squadron reported severe icing to and
from the target.

Bochum.
The crews were over the target at between 14,000 and 19,000 feet,
releasing
107,000 lbs of high explosives and 85,000 lbs of incendiaries.
According
to reports, the target was cloud covered and bombing was scattered.

P/O S. Dunn from 420 Squadron reurned early as the
instruments were
u/s.
Sgt E. Way was hit by flak, the rear turret was damaged.
Sgt J. Easson and crew flying Wellington X MS-480 coded PT-X were
attacked
by a JU-88, some strikes were seen.
W/O G. Tubman landed at Driffield on return due to a fuel shortage.
