    14 Wellingtons from 429 and 431 Squadrons were ordered on a mining operation to the Frisian Islands. The crews were over the garden at between 700 and 4,000 feet, sowing 20@1500 lb mines.

    Sgt H. Carty from 429 Squadron returned early, as they could not find the pinpoint.

    Sgt A. Bryant from 431 Squadron returned early, as the navigator, Sgt W. Abbott RAF,  was sick.
    Sgt E. Aspden returned early as the instruments were u/s.
    F/O D. Hine returned early as the navigation aids were u/s.
    Sgt P. Davis was hit by flak, not serious.
    Sgt D. Pitts RNZAF–POW and crew, flying Wellington X HE-202 coded SE-Z, failed to return from this operation.
