    90 Halifaxes from 408, 415, 420, 425, 426, and 432 Squadrons were ordered on an attack of the rail yards at Rheine. The crews were over the target at between 10,000 and 12,000 feet, releasing 664,000 lbs of high explosives. According to reports, bombing was accurate and severe damage was caused.

    P/O R. Pallin from 415 Squadron was hit by flak, not serious.
    F/O J. Hechter was unable to raise the under carriage. They went to the target with it down. After bombing they were unable to close the bomb doors. They landed at Eindhoven on return due to a fuel shortage.

    F/Lt D. McIntyre from 420 Squadron was hit by flak, there were holes in the port rudder and tail plane.
    F/O R. Kane was hit by flak, there were holes in the port wing and mid upper turret.
    P/O R. Bagnell was hit by flak, there were holes in the wings, fuselage and both stbd engines were losing oil and could not be feathered. The propellor flew off the stbd outer damaging the stbd inner. The stbd inner was vibrating severely on return. The landed safely at Seething on 2 engines. 

    S/Ldr E. St. Jean from 425 Squadron was hit by flak, there were holes in the port wing.

    F/O R. Proud from 432 Squadron was hit by flak, not serious.
    F/O R. Martindale was hit 3 times by flak, there were holes in the fuselage.
