    173 Halifaxes from 408, 415, 420, 424, 425, 426, 427, 429, 432, 433, and 434 Squadrons were joined by 53 Lancasters from 419, 428, and 431 Squadrons on an attack at Neuss. The crews were over the target at between 16,000 and 19,000 feet, releasing 1,880,000 lbs of high explosives and 240,000 lbs of incendiaries. According to reports there was wide spread damage with many industrial places damaged.

    P/O R. McKenney RCAF and crew from 427 Squadron flying Halifax III MZ-867 coded ZL-G returned early as the stbd inner was u/s. The crew crash landed at base, hitting the range butts.

    The Halifax was destroyed but the crew was uninjured.

    6 Halifaxes from 424 Squadron were ordered on a mining operation to Oslo. The crews were over the garden at 5,000 feet, releasing 16@1500 lb mines.
