42 Lancasters from 419 and 428 Squadrons attacked Stuttgart. The crews
were over the target at 16,000 feet releasing 389,000 lbs of high explosives.
Some important industries were damaged.
W/O2 L. McDonald of 419 Squadron was hit by flak, it was not serious.
They landed at Stradishall on return due to poor weather at base.

the nose of the aircraft. They landed at Chedburgh on return due to poor
at base.
P/O G. Pearce was hit by flak. There were holes in the fuselage behind
the pilot. They landed safely at Chedburgh on return due to poor weather
at base.
F/O D. Poole had the side window blown out by ice or flak. They landed
at Chedburgh on return due to poor weather at base.
F/O N. Noel returned early. On takeoff the port outer overheated. At
the end of the runway , they were too low and hit a tree damaging the leading
edge of the wing and port inner engine. They went around and landed safely
on 3 engines.
F/O H. walker and crew, flying Lancaster X KB-763 coded NA-S, were
fired upon by a Lancaster, there was damage to the from turret, fins and
rudder. They landed at Chedburgh on return due to poor weather at base.
