October 24/25, 1944


    9 Halifaxes from 429 and 433 squadrons were sent on a mining operation to Oslo. The crews were over the garden at 12,000 feet releasing 32@1500 lb mines.

    F/O J. Lakeman, F/O C. Gray, F/Lt G. Bennett, F/O F. Biddell, and F/O J. Keslick from 429 Squadron landed at Kinloss on return due to poor weather at base.

    F/O R. Forbes of 433 Squadron returned early due to the stbd outer going u/s. They landed safely at base on 3 engines.
    F/O R. Mountford and crew, flying Halifax III MZ-910 coded BM-Y, were attacked by an unidentified single engine aircraft. Many strikes were seen and the enemy aircraft caught fire, flipped onto its back and dove vertically to the ground. It was claimed probably destroyed. They landed safely on return at Kinloss.
    F/Lt J. Howes and F/Lt D. McGrath landed at Kinloss due to poor weather at base.
