The Weis crew from 408 Squadron.
    This crew failed to return from operations while flying Lancaster Mk II LL-643 coded EQ-Q, attacking the railyards at Acheres and Versailles on June 7/8, 1944.
Left to right they are : F/O Robert Rolph RCAF, Rear gunner; P/O Derek Flitton RAF, Bomb aimer;
P/O Bill Griggs RAF, Wireless Op; F/Lt Bill Weis RCAF, Pilot; P/O Ralph Lowrey RAF, Mid-upper Gunner;
P/O John Inverarity RCAF, Navigator; and P/O Herbert Hugill RAF, Flight Engineer.
Missing from the photo is P/O D. Skingle, RCAF Mid-under gunner.

LL643 crashed in a wooded area near the village of Bailleul-Neuville.
Noboby took care of the bodies and when the bomb load exploded many months ( in November 1945 ! ) after the crash there were not much left of crew and plane.

Photo graciously suppled by Laurent Viton.
