    90 Halifaxes from 408, 415, 420, 425, 426, and 432 Squadrons were joined by 110 Lancasters from 419, 424, 427, 428, 429, 431, 433, and 434 Squadrons on an attack of the rail yards at Leipzig. The crews were over the target at between 15,500 and 19,000 feet, releasing 1,532,000 lbs of high explosives. According to reports, the weather was good and severe damage was caused.

    F/Lt L. Godfrey from 408 Squadron returned early as they could not find the gaggle.

    F/O E. Millbank from 415 Squadron was hit by flak, not serious.
    F/O R. Jupp and crew flying Halifax VII RG-447 coded 6U-S were attacked by a ME-163, there was no claim or damage.
    F/Lt R. Evans RCAF and crew, flying Halifax III NA-185 coded 6U-B, failed to return from this operation.

    P/O J. MacNeil from 419 Squadron was hit by flak, there were holes in the nose and port wing.

    F/Sgt J. Bryan from 420 Squadron returned early as the port inner was u/s. They landed safely at base on 3 engines.

    F/O J. McMahon from 425 Squadron was hit by flak, not serious.
    F/Sgt J. Beaudoin was hit by flak, there was a 2 foot square hole in the wireless operators compartment and the oxygen system was u/s.
    F/O J. Giquere and crew flying Halifax III NP-937 coded KW-T fired upon an ME-163 attacking another bomber, there was no claim.

    F/Lt C. Farrow from 426 Squadron returned early as the stbd outer was u/s. They landed safely at base on 3 engines.
    P/O R. Reith was hit by flak, there were holes in the tail, stbd wing and bomb bay.

    P/O D. Varden from 428 squadron was hit by flak, there were holes in the port wing and aileron.

    F/O L. Morrison from 429 Squadron was hit by flak, not serious.
    F/O D. Faulkner was hit by flak, there were holes in the stbd wing.

    P/O A. McNeil from 431 Squadron was hit by flak, there were holes in the port wing and tail plane.

    P/O J. Turner from 432 squadron returned early as the stbd inner was u/s. They landed safely at base on 3 engines.
    W/O2 D. Brewer returned early as the stbd outer was u/s. They landed safely at base on 3 engines.
    F/O R. Martindale was hit by flak, there were holes in the forward fuselage.
    F/O J. Paul was hit by flak, there was serious holes throughout the wings and fuselage.
    F/O J. Kinniburgh was hit by flak, there were holes in the fuselage.

    F/O R. Dahl from 433 squadron returned early as the port inner was u/s. They landed safely at base on 3 engines.
    F/O R. Grisdale RCAF and crew, flying Lancaster I PB-903 coded BM-F, failed to return from this operation.

    All were killed. According to witnesses, this Lancaster was hit by flak, the stbd inner was seen to be feathered. Then a small explosion was seen, the aircraft flipped onto its back and spiraled to the ground. No parachutes were seen.

    F/Lt G. Marlow from 434 Squadron returned to base as the port outer was u/s and the port inner was running poorly. They landed safely at base on 3 engines.
    F/Lt D. Milloy did not bomb as the load hung up over the target.
    F/O H. Hooper was hit by flak, the nose was damaged and P/O W. Roothan RCAF, the bomb aimer was wounded.
