May 14/15 1944

10 Halifaxes from 428 Squadron were ordered on a mining operation. The crews were over the garden at 8,000 feet sowing 20@1,500 lb mines.

F/O G. Gonyou did not mine because the load hung up. The crew spent 45 minutes trying to get the distributor working to release the load. During this time the enemy thought they wanted to land and lit the flare path. Two other enemy aircraft landed at this airfield south of Honfleurs.
