    13 Lancasters from 408 squadron were joined by 59 Halifaxes from 420, 425, 426, 431, and 432 squadron on an attack of the rail yards at Haine St. Pierre. The crews were over the target at between 6,000 and 8,500 feet, releasing 717,000 lbs of high explosives. According to reports the bombing was concentrated and severe damage was caused to the rail yards and locomotive shops.

    P/O W. Pullar and crew flying Lancaster II  DS-727 coded EQ-O  were hit by flak, it was not serious.

    F/Sgt E. Vaughan and crew flying Lancaster II  LL-722 coded EQ-N  were attacked by an ME-109, there was no claim or damage.

    13 crews from 420 Squadron departed base between 01:08 and 01:31, they were over the target between 03:18 and 03:29, returning between 05:15 and 05:46.

    P/O H. Damgaard and crew  flying Halifax III  MZ-595 coded PT-O  were attacked twice by a JU-88, some strikes were seen on the port wing and it was claimed as damaged.

    13 crews from 425 Squadron departed base between ??, they were over the target between ??, returning to base between ??.

    P/O C. Stark and crew flying Halifax III  LW-680 coded KW-U  were attacked by an unidentified single engine enemy aircraft, there was no claim or damage.

    F/O L. White USAAF and crew flying Halifax III  LK-798 coded KW-A  failed to return from this operation.

    S/Ldr C. Bull and crew flying Halifax III  MZ-537 coded SE-L  returned without bombing as they did not see any T.I’s.

    F/Sgt A. Fairless and crew flying Halifax III  LK-828 coded SE-S  was attacked by an ME-110, some strikes were seen.

    F/O M. MacLeod and crew flying Halifax III  MZ-629 coded SE-B  was attacked by a unidentified single engine aircraft, there was no claim or damage.

    P/O E. Haliwell and crew flying Halifax III  MZ-637 coded SE-E were attacked by an FW-190, there was no claim but some hits were taken on the port tail plane and the hydraulics were damaged.

    S/Ldr J. MacDonald and crew flying Halifax III  MZ-517 coded SE-D  were attacked by an FW-190, there was no claim or damage. 

    F/Lt R. Mead RCAF and crew flying Halifax III  LK-884 coded SE-X  failed to return from this operation.

    13 crews from 432 Squadron departed base between 01:18 and 01:30, they were over the target between 03:22 and 03:25, returning to base between 04:30 and 05:26.

    P/O J. Webb and crew flying Halifax III  LW-686 coded QO-H  returned early at 03:03 as the hydraulics were u/s.

    F/Sgt J. McElheran and crew flying Halifax III LK-764 coded QO-F was attacked ten times by an ME-210, there was no claim but the undercarriage, rear turret, stbd wing and stbd inner were damaged. 

    F/Sgt R. Anthony and crew flying Halifax III MZ-633 coded QO-O was attacked by a JU-88, there was no claim or damage.

    F/O R. Martin RCAF and crew flying Halifax III   LW-583 coded QO-L failed to return from this operation.

    While the above crews went to Haine St. Pierre, 22 Halifaxes from 424 and 433 Squadrons were ordered on a mining operation to Lorient, St. Nazaire, St. Malo, Morlaix and Brest. The crews were over the gardens at 15,000 feet, sowing 44@1500 lb mines.

    12 crews from 424 Squadron departed base at between 23:15 and 23:36, they were over the gardens at St. Nazaire and Lorient between 02:02 and 02:08, returning to base between 04:14 and 04:54.

    10 crews from 433 Squadron departed base between 23:26 and 23:35, they were over the gardens at Brest, St. Malo and Morlaix between 01:43 and 02:01, returning safely to base between 03:49 and 04:28.
