October 2/3, 1943

    12 Halifaxes from 431 and 434 squadrons were joined by 12 Wellingtons from 432 squadron on a mining operation to Heligoland and the Baltic. The crews were over the garden at between 3,000 and 7,000 feet, sowing 32@1500 lb mines.

    S/Ldr. W. Pleasance from 431 squadron was hit by flak. One engine was u/s. They returned safely to base on 3 engines. 

    Sgt. J. McIntosh, Sgt. D. Maddock, P/O R. Murray, and  F/O I. Beckwith from 432 squadron returned without mining as could not find the pinpoint.
    Sgt. J. Cooper, Sgt. P. Dennis, and F/Sgt. J. Poole returned early as their rear turrets were u/s.

    F/O H. German from 434 squadron returned early due to severe icing and they were burning too much fuel.
    Sgt. A. Nadeau landed at Peterhead on return.
