September 2/3, 1943

    18 Halifaxes from 419,427, 428, and 434 squadrons were joined by 2 Lancasters from 426 squadron, and 12 Wellingtons from 432 squadron, on a mining operation to the Frisian Islands. The crews were over the garden at between 1,000 and 6,000 feet, sowing 74@1500 lb mines.

    Sgt. J. Kelly from 419 squadron returned early as the navigation aids were u/s.

    Sgt. W. Caldwell and P/O G. Cribb from 427 squadron returned early as the navigation aids were u/s.

    P/O C. Ford from 428 squadron returned early as the navigation aids were u/s.

    Sgt. P. Dennis from 432 squadron returned early as the stbd engine was u/s. They landed safely at base on one engine.

    All crews from 434 squadron returned early as their navigation aids were not working.
