F/L G. Gardiner RCAF, the pilot of Halifax III LW-127 coded AL-F was taken as a POW after
being hit by falling bombs over Mondeville on July 18, 1944.

The other crewmembers were:
Sgt E. McGregor RCAF, Mid-upper gunner, (evaded capture); Sgt B. Gillespie RCAF Rear gunner;  F/O R. Ellis RCAF Bomb aimer;
W/O1 F. McNiffe RCAF, POW, Wireless Op; F/O P. Brunet RCAF POW, Navigator; and
Sgt J. Cunningham RAF , Flight Engineer
