September 29/30, 1943

    Halifaxes from 419, 427, 428, 429, and 434 squadrons were ordered on an attack at Bochum. The crews were over the target at between 17,000 and 22,000 feet, releasing 70,000 lbs of high explosives and 136,000 lbs of incendiaries. According to reports, bombing was accurate and severe damage was caused.

    P/O J. Symons, RCAF and crew, flying Halifax II  BB-376 coded VR-G, failed to return from this operation.

    Sgt R. Reinelt from 429 squadron returned early with technical problems.

    F/Lt. J. Tyler from 434 squadron returned early as the stbd outer was u/s. They landed safely at base on 3 engines.
    2nd/Lt. J. Clary, USAAF (Evd), and crew, flying Halifax V  DK-259 coded WL-L, failed to return from this operation.
