The George Medal


TERMS
Awarded only for acts of great bravery and is intended primarily for civilians and awards to the military services is confined to actions for which purely military honours are not normally granted.

BAR
For additional acts of bravery. (silver laurelled bar, slip on type)

DESCRIPTION
Circular, 1.42 inches, silver. 

OBVERSE
George VI, crowned head, facing left (two types of legends).
Elizabeth II, crowned head, facing right (two types of legends).

REVERSE
St. George on horseback slaying the Dragon with the words THE GEORGE MEDAL around the top edge of the medal.

MOUNTING
Ring suspender with single toe claw plus inward scroll claws.

RIBBON
1 1/4 inches; silver.
